Radebe is ready to help squad

LUCAS Radebe is ready to help Bafana Bafana.

The former national captain yesterday pledged his support and willingness to play a "bigger role" in making sure South African football improves.

Radebe said he had not been approached, but "I have the interest of contributing to the game . to share my experience with local football".

He said this was needed not only at national level, but at grassroots level as well "to make sure that our football improves and our development structures improve".

"(I have) vast experience and would like to impart it, to share it and contribute to development," Radebe said.

While Radebe has never been a coach, he said he would like to be involved in football structures at some stage.

"I have the interest in the game, to share my experience, not only at national team, but in development.

"It's time we put our structures right. There's so much happening now with rumours of changing management. Why can't we qualify (for Afcon) for three years in a row, why can't we be the powerhouse of African football? Former footballers must be involved. For us to sit on the sidelines and do nothing is not right. Many of us can improve the game.

"The experience of playing abroad is vital," he said.
