LAS VEGAS - A judge in Las Vegas says she will decide today whether to ease jail conditions for Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa made no immediate ruling on Tuesday after Mayweather's lawyers argued that the undefeated champion boxer's health is declining and he may never fight again if he's not released.
Mayweather began a three-month jail sentence on June 1 for attacking his ex-girlfriend while two of their children watched.
His lawyers are asking the judge to let him serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.
They say Mayweather's health is deteriorating because he's confined to his cell 23 hours a day and can't exercise.
Police say jailers are keeping Mayweather out of the general inmate population because he's a celebrity.
Meanwhile, US senator Harry Reid said he backed a probe into the split decision giving Timothy Bradley a win over Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas on Saturday, but said he believed there was "nothing untoward" in the scoring.
