Netherlands captain Mark van Bommel says his team won't tolerate any racist chants at the European Championship following controversy at a team training session.
Van Bommel told Friday's edition of Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that his team "will not accept that one of us is confronted with monkey chants."
He said his players, who face Denmark on Saturday in their Group B opener, would ask the referee "to intervene" if there were any incidents.
The skipper had been quoted as complaining about chants during training on Wednesday and teammate Ibrahim Afellay told De Telegraaf the jeers "saddened him". However, the Dutch federation did not file any complaint and UEFA did not receive one about any racist chanting. And defender Jetro Willems, who is black, said he hadn't heard any jeers.
