TURKISH giants Besiktas are the latest club to show an interest in signing Bafana Bafana right-back Anele Ngcongca.

The former FC Fortune player has already told Genk that he wants to leave at the end of the season and it appears he has no shortage of suitors with an asking price of R30million from the Belgian club.

FC Twente in the Netherlands, former home of Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker, English Premiership teams Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion, and French Ligue 2 side Monaco were all reported to have made contact regarding the player last week.

And now Besiktas are said to be ready to make their move as well, as they look to improve their squad after a disappointing campaign that has seen them out of the running for the European Champions League qualification places.

It is not the first time Ngcongca has been linked with a move to Turkey, with top side Fenerbahce registering their interest in January, but Genk were unwilling to sell at that stage.

The 24-year-old defender has been the most active of South Africa's overseas exports this season, making 43 starts for the club, including in the Champions League where he helped them to credible home draws with this year's finalists Chelsea, German side Bayer Leverkusen and La Liga club Valencia.

Besiktas are based in Turkey's capital, Istanbul, and have won 13 domestic league titles, the last of these in the 2008-09 season. That makes them the third-most successful Turkish side behind Fenerbahce (18 league titles) and Galatasaray (13). The club recently reappointed Tayfur Havutcu as coach after he was arrested as part of a massive match-fixing sting in the country in July last year.

And they do have a South African connection as well - former Bafana Bafana striker Fani Madida spent three seasons at the club between 1992 and 1995.
