IT TOOK Zolani Tete only 34 seconds to announce that he was on the comeback trail in South African boxing.

The Johannesburg-based Tete achieved this by sending Siphiwo Ntsangani for an early shower during the junior bantamweight fight in East London on Friday night.

"I apologise to the fans for ending the fight so early," said Tete, who came into the ring with Bob Marley's popular song Everything is gonna be all Right.

"I wanted to send a message loud and clear that Zolani is back with a bang," he said.

"I have experienced ups and downs in life but that's all water under the bridge now. The only way to win the hearts of South African fans again was to put up a spectacular performance. I was only hoping it will be a great fight.

"I have always believed that everything is going to be all right, I love Bob Marley's songs because they serve as an inspiration to me.

"I need another fight before I can challenge for a world title. Relocating to Johannesburg to work with Nick Durandt has helped me to become a better boxer. Nick is a no-nonsense man renowned for producing champions locally and globally.

"I will keep on training hard, I know my time will come to become a world champion too."

Tete, originally from Mdantsane, near East London, boasts a record of 18 fights - 16 victories with 14 with knockouts against two defeats.

Branco Sports Promotions have thanked the Eastern Cape government for making it possible for them to stage the fights. "We will be going back to them to bring more tournaments to East London," said Branco Milenkovic.
