UNDER siege Orlando Pirates coach Julio Leal will have more options in his engine room with the talented Sifiso Myeni finally ready to wear the famous black and white jersey.

Myeni is expected to make his first appearance for Pirates in the Gauteng Reserve League against Moroka Swallows at Panorama Sports Grounds near The Dome in Johannesburg today at 3.30pm.

He joined Pirates in January from Bidvest Wits while still nursing a knee injury but club chairman Irvin Khoza is confident he will add value at Bucs.

"I have been training hard on my own and am ready to feature in a competitive match. All that I need is to be given five to 10 minutes. The coaches will be impressed," said Myeni.

He will travel with the club to Cape Town for Wednesday night's Absa Premiership match against Santos.

"We also have the big Soweto derby coming on Saturday. I have always wanted to see myself playing in that popular fixture one day," said Myeni.

"My injury has healed, there are no more pains. I want to contribute to the success of Pirates by helping the team successfully defend the league and Nedbank Cup titles.

"It has been frustrating for me watching the games from the stands, I'm paid to play soccer," said Myeni, who was influenced by his family to accept an offer from Pirates.

Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs were among the Premiership clubs that were also after Myeni's signature.

Other top players who have used the Reserve League to get back into shape include Siphiwe Tshabalala, Moeneeb Josephs, Kaizer Motaung Junior and Thapelo Tshilo.

Motaung feels the league is especially beneficial to injured players coming back from rehabilitation.

The rest of today's fixtures:

Mamelodi Sundowns vs Bidvest Wits (Makhulong Stadium), Jomo Cosmos vs Atlie FC (Robertsham Grounds); Kaizer Chiefs vs SuperSport United (Eldorado Park Stadium) and University of Pretoria vs FC AK (Groenkloof Campus).
