Ali, who is one of the world's most recognisable sportsman, turns 70 last month in his home state of Kentucky where he had another celebration.
Saturday's gala and $1500-a-plate fundraiser (about R12000) was held in the US boxing and gambling Mecca of Las Vegas where Ali won seven prizefights to benefit Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville.
Beckham, Wonder and actor Samuel L. Jackson and football player Jim Brown were among the 2000 guests.
The former three-time world heavyweight champ now suffers from Parkinson's disease.
In November, Ali was briefly hospitalised in Phoenix, where doctors treated him for dehydration.
That came a few days after Ali attended the funeral of his old rival Joe Frazier, who died of liver cancer in Philadelphia on November 8.
Earlier this month, Ali's former trainer and mentor, Angelo Dundee died at age 90.
