Weather delays Cosmos fiesta

ORGANISERS of the weekend's Jomo Cosmos-Truck Centre Group Academy tournament featuring boys between the ages of 15 and 17 were forced to postpone the final stages of the tournament due to inclement weather.

The tournament took place at the Jomo Cosmos grounds near Rand Stadium and was watched by Ezenkosi boss Jomo Sono as well as Truck Centre Group general manager Deva Pandarum.

It was a festival of fun and highly entertaining football as 36 clubs battled for honours in the Under-15 and Under-17 categories. Clubs on parade at the fiesta included Highlands City FC, Mapetla Brazil, Buhle Buzile FC, Duduza Inter Milan, Tsepisong FC, African Stars, Jomo Cosmos, Midrand United, Eyethu United, Barcenal FC and Ngcobo Aces.

Mapetla Brazil, Boipelo FC, Jomo Cosmos and Barcenal FC made it through to the semifinals of the U-15 section while Highlanders joined Buhle Buzile and Boipelo FC in the semifinals of the U-17 section.

But inclement weather prevented the last quarterfinal and the rest of the programme from taking place. This has compelled the organisers to reschedule the remaining fixtures for Saturday, kicking off at 8am.

Cosmos said: "Jomo Cosmos is indeed honoured and proud to be associated with a corporate body like Truck Centre Group.

"As a corporate body with similar visions, we really do appreciate TCG's decision to continue partnering with us."
