Bay United without home

THE search for a new home continues for Limpopo-based National First Division side Bay United.

The Premier Soccer League closed Seshego Stadium after an inspection by chief operations officer Ronnie Schloss in December.

"After numerous reports from match commissioners, I personally went to inspect the facility and found that the condition of the pitch and change rooms were not up to PSL standard," explained Schloss.

Polokwane municipality marketing and communications manager Mantlako Sebaka, who's also responsible for the facility, said the Seshego Stadium pitch has always given them a problem and that they have decided to re-lay it.

"The grass on the grandstand side of the stadium always dies and we have even sent the soil for laboratory tests. We will also level the pitch which was a bit bumpy in certain areas.

"We also intend to erect a new perimeter fence on the northern and eastern sides. On the issues of dressing rooms the concern has always been that they are too small hence our decision to have each team allocated two dressing rooms" Sebaka said.

She said they hoped to finish the renovations in June.

The teams that had booked Seshego Stadium are currently uti-lising the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, according to Sebaka.

Bay United general manager Lungisi Mooi said: "It's no fun having to look for a venue every weekend but if moving out of Polokwane will help our cause, let it be but it will come at a cost for us"
