HAVING to fight on Heritage Day might give Wiseman "Angisabilutho" Dlomo a reason to believe he could lay claim to something of a heritage stock in his family.

He will bid for the first defence of his South African heavyweight title against Hein van Bosch.

Boxing promoter Thulani Magudulela's Ludonga Boxing Promotions will stage this fight and others at the Olive Convention Centre in Durban on September 24.

Van Bosch, 41, is originally from Gauteng but is now based in Durban.

The veteran, who has been a professional boxer with no success since 1991, stopped S'Thembele August in two rounds of their title eliminator two weeks ago.

That fight was staged by Magudulela at Albert Park in Durban.

Van Bosch chalked up his second stoppage in nine wins against 15 losses and the victory earned him the No 7 spot in the rankings.

Magudulela, whose hard work earned him Boxing South Africa's 2010 promoter of the year award, said his coming tournament will be part of this year's Heritage Day celebrations in Durban.

"September 24 is the day to remember and honour our heroes. We then saw it fit that our hero, Wiseman, also defends his title on this day," Magudulela said.

Dlomo, 30, from Newlands East in Durban, won the national title in April after stopping Anton Nel over five rounds. It was a case of third time lucky for Dlomo after he lost championship bouts to Nel in 2003 and Osborne Machimana in 2006.

Before defeating Nel, Dlomo had become a stepping stone for rising stars, including Bully Muravha and Flo Simba.

His bout against Nel was presented by Magudulela at George Campbell High School in Durban and Dlomo became the first black heavyweight champion from the province.

Dlomo's skills are honed by Magudulela's son Zwilenkosi. The promoter said there will be six undercard bouts.
