Mayweather talks up SA fight

CONTROVERSIAL and unbeaten American boxer Floyd Mayweather is talking about staging a fight in South Africa in July, his uncle Jeff says.

Mayweather, who is facing felony charges that could see him serve a lengthy jail term, is in talks with the family of Nelson Mandela about a possible fight around the time of Mandela's 93rd birthday on July 18, according to Jeff Mayweather.

The event will be a special occasion for South African boxing fans if Mayweather fights on these shores, considering that it is rare for the American to fight anywhere outside the United States.

Though it is still unclear who Mayweather's opponent will be, fight fans are dreaming of seeing the American finally facing Manny Pacquiao.
