Cosmos tipped to pip Celtic

IT will be a travesty of justice should Jomo Cosmos get relegated again at the end of this season.

For the first time since their return from the National First Division this season, club boss Jomo Sono has assembled a solid and exciting team to watch.

Bloemfontein Celtic could once again feel the effects of an Ezenkosi backlash when the two sides meet in their Absa Premiership fixture at Seisa Ramabodu Stadium tonight.

If judged on their recent performances, it could be safely said that Cosmos are due for a win.

Cosmos were hard done-by by the referee on Sunday when he awarded Orlando Pirates a penalty that never was. Isaac Chansa scored the penalty and allowed Pirates back into the match.

Phunya SeleSele and Cosmos have met 41 times in league games since 1985 and Sono's lads have 18 victories to Celtic's 13.

It is for this reason that Ezenkosi will go into this game with more confidence after showing the Bloemfontein lads the exit from the last-16 stage of the Telkom Knockout with an impressive 3-0 victory last week.

But the home side, who boast an impressive home record, believe they have cleared the cobwebs of their 2-0 defeat by AmaZulu and Cosmos. They are just not proud of their poor away form.

Celtic have only lost one game at home since coach Clinton Larsen took charge.

"We have lost once at home and conceded one goal since I was in charge in one-and-a-half years. We are not good travellers," admitted Larsen. "Our boys seem to take a different approach in away games. They lose concentration that has always seen us being caught on the break.

"We have lost quite a number of points on the road. But we usually do well at home and I don't expect that to change today.

"We have made a few adjustments to the team and tightened up a few loose ends."

Larsen should pay particular attention to Cosmos's skilful forward Tshidiso Tukane.

l Ajax Cape Town, who are still smarting from their 3-2 beating by Moroka Swallows, take on Bidvest Wits at Cape Town Stadium.

l Victory could go either way in the match between two unpredictable sides, neighbours Lamont- ville Golden Arrows and AmaZulu, at King Zwelithini Stadium tonight.

l All matches start at 7.30pm.
