Ertugral into the cauldron

NEWLY Lamontville Golden Arrows coach Muhsin Ertugral couldn't have asked for a tougher assignment than his PSL comeback this weekend.

Mamelodi Sundowns will provide a stern test of Ertugral's credentials on his return to the Absa Premiership after a two-year absence.

Arrows, who shocked Kaizer Chiefs with a 2-1 win a fortnight ago, will be looking for a repeat performance when they host Sundowns at King Zwelithini Stadium tomorrow (kickoff is at 6pm).

Since leaving Turkish side Sivasspor two season ago, Ertugral has been hankering for a move back to the PSL and was twice linked with Orlando Pirates and Ajax Cape Town.

With his work permit sorted out, Ertugral now begins a tough task of restoring consistency and confidence at Arrows.

Pressure will be on for Ertugral to continue the turnaround process begun by predecessor Ernst Middendorp, who recently got sacked.

Sitting ominously on 14th spot with six points, Arrows are not out of the woods yet.

The second-placed Brazilians will be looking to go top of the standings, a position they occupied early in the season.

Coach Johan Neeskens says he expects a very tough and exciting match against Arrows, as the players will be trying to impress the new coach.

"I'm well aware that all the teams in the PSL want to do well against Sundowns.

All I have to do is prepare my players mentally and physically," said Neeskens.

Elsewhere tomorrow, Moroka Swallows visit Bidvest Wits at Milpark Stadium, while Platinum Stars take on Santos at Moruleng Stadium.

Both matches start at 3.30pm.
