Baby Bafana down Ghana

BABY Bafana continued their impressive run at the 2011 All Africa Games with a 1-0 win over Ghana in Maputo yesterday to qualify for the semifinals.

Fisimpilo Ntombela scored the all-important goal that ensured Shakes Mashaba's side maintained their perfect start to the tournament after beating hosts Mozambique 3-1 in Sunday's opening match.

"This is a remarkable achievement considering that we were not able to get the players we wanted for this tournament," said team manager Levy Ramajoe. "The players that coach Shakes and his technical staff have selected are hungry for success. They want to be in the team for the 2012 London Olympics mini-tournament in Egypt in December."

  • Banyana Banyana's 'B' side hope to register their second win of the AAG at the expense of Tanzania in Maputo today.
