Birds target Chiefs

MOROKA Swallows are targeting seven points in their three opening Premiership matches of the season.

Swallows flew away with three points when they defeated Santos 3-1 away in their opener at the weekend and they are now eyeing another maximum at Kaizer Chiefs' expense tonight (8).

Speaking ahead of the Soweto derby against Amakhosi at Dobsonville Stadium, Birds' decorated coach Gordon Igesund said they wanted to win tonight's encounter to maintain their winning start to the season.

"I have set a target of collecting at least seven points from the three opening matches and the first three points are already in the back after a great win over Santos," Igesund said.

"We are going for yet another win and this time against Chiefs, but I must say it will be a tough one because they are one of the top clubs in the league.

  • Amakhosi have confirmed the signing of Zimbabwean defender Lincoin Zvasiya and midfielder Willard Katsande, both on a three-year deal. [see related story for more details]
