“IT’S dream come true”, said South African soccer star Thulani “Simply The Best” Serero after making a dream debut for Ajax Amsterdam in Holland on Sunday
Serero came on as a substitute with Ajax leading 3-1 and went on to create two more goals.
The reigning Holland Premier League champions hammered Heerenveen 5-1.
“It’s a great feeling, I want to thank God, it has always been my dream to play in one of the top leagues in Europe when I was still growing up in Soweto,” said Serero afterwards.
Serero joined Ajax Amsterdam in June in a deal believed to be in the region of R25 million from South African Premiership side Ajax Cape Town.
“I’m so happy to see that Thulani is now a big name in Holland hardly two months after joining Ajax Amsterdam,” said Serero’s agent Mike Ntombela.
“Thulani has already built a big fan base here for himself, they love him. I decided to come to Holland to watch Thulani make history in his first official league match in Europe.
“I have no doubt the boy will continue doing well in Europe because he works hard. He is going to put South Africa on the global map like Lucas Radebe, Steven Pienaar, Aaron Mokoena and many others.”
