NOMANDITHINI "The Tiger" Ndyambo, a farm girl from Eastern Cape, wants to follow in the footsteps of her neighbour Noni "She Bee Stingin" Tenge

Tenge, 28, from Mncotsho near East London, holds the IBF female world belt. She is the first local female boxer to win a legitimate world title.

Tenge first won the WBF title in 2009 and added the IBF strap on June 11 after dethroning Daniella Smith from New Zealand with a stoppage in the fourth round.

Her monumental success has motivated Ndyambo, 20, from Phumlani Location, 15km away from Mdantsane.

She wants to win the vacant South African lightweight title when she fights Bonita van Jaarsveld at East London's Orient Theatre on August 20.

Her trainer and manager Monde Banjwa boldly predicted that the title will stay in East London.

"Be at the fight to see for yourself," said Banjywa, who has been honing Ndyambo's skills for the past five years. "She was a rugby player when I first met her. I convinced her to take up boxing and she won 29 amateur fights without a loss in just a short space of time. That is how talented she is."

Ndyambo is undefeated after five fights in the professional ranks and Van Jaarsveld is one of her victims. She defeated her over four rounds in 2008.

"We know what to expect from her," said Banjwa, a former welterweight boxer whose Lumanyano Boxing Club boasts about 20 female fighters, mostly amateurs.

"We are suffering in terms of equipment but our first champion will put us in the limelight and people will take note of us," he said.

Meanwhile, Unathi "Showtime" Myekeni will top the bill when she bids for the first defence of the WBF junior featherweight strap against Gabisile "Simply The Best" Tshabalala.

Myekeni is guided by accomplished manager Nick Durandt while Tshabalala, the 2010 BSA prospect of the year, is trained by Elias Mpembe.

This tournament is part of Women's Month celebrations. It will be staged by promoter Koko Godlo.
