KAIZER Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic did not beat about the bush yesterday when he declared that BidVest Wits will be history in the MTN8 come 5pm on Sunday.

The Clever Boys, who will be sporting the Nike-designed jersey this season, take a short trip to Nasrec for a date with Amakhosi at Soccer City.

"It is important to win because there is no second leg in this competition. We want to start the season on a high note by winning," Vermezovic said.

"We expect a tough match but winning the league title is more important for us this season. We will be stronger this time around."

Wits coach Roger de Sa said: "It is important to start the season by winning the match.

"I'm happy, considering that we've managed to retain the core of the team."

After the departure of Knowledge Musona to Germany, Vermezovic will pin his hopes on Bernard Parker and Lehloholo "Wagga Wagga" Majoro upfront.

De Sa, on the other hand, will depend on the likes of Bhongolwethu "Powerball" Jajiya and Denmark-bound Sifiso Myeni.

l After signing an array of seasoned players, SuperSport United plan to deliver on club boss Khulu "Brains" Sibiya's mandate to win one competition and the championship this season. United begin their challenge for silverware with a tricky away match against Ajax Cape Town at Cape Town Stadium at 8pm tonight.

In an address to the players yesterday, Sibiya said: "My wish list is to see us winning two items of silverware and that's what champions do."

United midfielder Thandani "Bibo" Ntshumayelo is confident they will make Sibiya a proud man at the end of the season.

Ajax midfielder and former United player Brett "Zuluboy" Carelse said: "Our pre-season went very well and we are looking forward to doing well in this tournament."
