Baroka players to share loot

GIANT-KILLERS Baroka FC will share half of their prize money in the Nedbank Cup with the players and technical staff, no matter what stage of the tournament they reach.

Baroka are already guaranteed R1million after qualifying for the semifinals at the expense of Kaizer Chiefs.

Baroka owner Khurushi Mphahlele told Sowetan yesterday that 15 players and five technical staff members will share R500000 if they lose in the semifinal, meaning each one will pocket R25000.

Should Baroka lose in the final, they will share half of the R2,5million runners-up prize, while winning the tournament will see them sharing half of the R6million first prize.

Mphahlele said the incentives would go a long way to motivating the players in the tournament. "It is also to thank them for making us proud in the Nedbank Cup. They have put Limpopo and the GaMphahlele area on the map and I'm proud of their achievements."
