Majoro targets Downs

AMAZULU's current leading goal-scorer Lehlohonolo Majoro says he enjoys the attention of defenders and thrives on games where the opposition's rearguard sticks to him like superglue.

Majoro, who has hit the back of the net an impressive 11 times in his maiden season as a professional footballer, will lead Usuthu's attack against title-chasers Mamelodi Sundowns in an Absa Premiership match at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday (3pm).

"Each match is a different ball game altogether and this is why this game is so unpredictable," said Majoro yesterday.

"However, for me as a player of AmaZulu I have to make things happen for my team. Even if Sundowns assign a player to man-mark me I will have to pull through and do what my team expects of me.

"But for them to put their focus on me will be good because it will give others a chance to score.

"This is a game of 11 players and in AmaZulu we have many players who are capable of scoring. If they stick to me and mark me out of the game, Ayanda (Dlamini) and (Tangeni) Shipahu can do the job. We also have Koloba (Ntokozo Sikhakhane), who can score from the midfield as well," said the 24-year-old.

In their last game, Sundowns seemed defensively frail, conceding three goals in quick succession in their thrilling 4-4 draw with Ajax Cape Town. The result denied the Brazilians a chance of getting back to the top of the log, a position they held for a lengthy period in the first round. But Majoro knows things will be different on Saturday and is under no illusions about it. "We do not have the same kind of players as Ajax.

"Just because Ajax scored four does not mean automatically we will do the same. But we know their weaknesses and strengths and therefore we know what to expect from them," said the gifted attacker.
