Pro20 turns cricket on its head

WHAT is a defendable total or even a defendable over in Standard Bank Pro20 cricket?

That is a question that must have given the franchise captains much food for thought after the first three matches all ended in last-ball victories for the side batting second.

Clearly no franchise is going to feel safe - even if their opponents need 20 or more runs going into the final six deliveries.

The fourth match of the competition at the OUTsurance Oval in Bloemfontein today (6pm) features the two teams who have not played yet - the Chevrolet Knights and the Nashua Dolphins. It also pits an array of the game's big hitters against each other.

The Dolphins possess the biggest and most lethal of all the big hitters in Loots Bosman, while David Miller has also carved out an impressive reputation in this form of the game.

Lined up against them is another of the game's emerging young stars, Rilee Rossouw, as well as veteran Johan van der Wath.

Don't forget also about Ryan McLaren, who has taken over the Knights' captaincy from World Cup- bound Morne van Wyk and is one of several players who must be in the standby queue.

Fixtures for this week:

TODAY

Chevrolet Knights vs Nashua Dolphins (6pm)

FRIDAY

Buffalo Park: Chevrolet Warriors vs Nashua Dolphins (6pm); Wanderers: Highveld Lions vs Nashua Titans (6pm).
