Chiefs 'will look after Shabba'

KAIZER Chiefs will put the interests of Siphiwe Tshabalala first in his pursuit of a European move, club manager Bobby Motaung says

Tshabalala jetted to England last night. He will spend the week at English championship side Nottingham Forest, who want to get a closer look at the player.

Motaung said the deal, if there is one, should be beneficial to both the club and player.

"We got a proposal from Nottingham Forest last week about the player. He is not going on trial, they just want to have a look at him," he explained.

"But we don't want a situation where the club gets a lot of money for the player but he gets peanuts. It should be about what is best for the player."

Motaung added that as a club, their goal is still to win the league and in order to achieve that they need all their best players, including Tshabalala.

"Chiefs are not in the business of selling their best players. We want to win the league and we need all our best players to do that. There has been s lot of speculation about Shabba for a while, but the letter I got from them (Forest) was the first I ever got for him," he said.

Motaung would not say how much he would let the player go for.

"We don't have a price tag for him."
