German chancellor Angela Merkel has "ironed out differences" with the country's soccer federation following her surprise visit to the national team changing room

Merkel went to see the players after Germany's 3-0 victory over Turkey in a Euro 2012 qualifier in Berlin on October 8.

Official pictures showed Merkel chatting with bare-chested players.

Her action upset soccer chief Theo Zwanziger, who said politicians should stay out of sport.

A government official said Merkel and Zwanziger clarified everything during a subsequent phone call.

"All the irritation has been resolved," the official said.
