FS Stars aim to set the record straight in shootout with Ajax

FREE State Stars boss Mike Mokoena is not pressing panic buttons yet in spite of his side's failure to win a match in five Absa Premiership outings this season.

Out of a possible 15 points, Ea Lla Koto have collected three points after stalemates against Orlando Pirates, Santos and Vasco da Gama.

Guided by former Bafana Bafana skipper Steve Komphela, the Free Staters went on to lose matches against Lamontville Golden Arrows and Bidvest Wits.

Stars are third from the bottom of the log.

"Look, we are naturally disappointed that we are still chasing our first win after five matches," said Mokoena, who is also a successful cattle farmer.

"I still maintain we have assembled a solid team to compete for the league championship and knockout competitions this season. Steve is still trying various combinations and he is gradually getting the right one. We don't expect him to get a good combination after one match considering that we have an array of new players who were not here when he was with us the last time out.

"We are playing against Ajax Cape Town this weekend and I'm positive we will succeed."

Mokoena also attributed their failure to win a game in the league so far to injuries and suspensions to some of their key players.

"One of our senior players, Paulos Masehe, is suspended. others like Gilbert Rudiger, Yavanga Nkiadiambu and Ayanda Gcaba are nursing an assortment of injuries."
