LEON Prins is living on borrowed time as Moroka Swallows' chief executive, the club's minority shareholders warned yesterday.
They said it was time someone took over control of the club, which was rocked by the death of majority shareholder Dieter Bock in May.
"Drastic action is needed at the club and that means Leon Prins must go," said Charles Makhubu, who is chief executive of the minority shareholders' forum. They have a 16percent stake.
"CEOs are fired all the time. Hell, even the president of the country was removed from office before time and it will be the same with (Prins)," Makhubu said.
He added that he had made an offer of R55million for Bock's shares but he was not considered.
"I was then told that they needed to know the source of my funding, which I was not at liberty to disclose at the time. But I think Prins was behind the deal falling through. There were times in the past when potential buyers saw their bids also not being successful and I suspect him," Makhubu said.
"Prins should either leave now or be forced out of the Birds' nest. This is starting to get personal but we'll get our club back. I haven't had any luck locating the executor of Bock's estate but we will get control of the club back."
Prins made it clear that he was not prepared to comment.
