ANC leader says sorry to premier

LIMPOPO ANC leader Dodo Mushwana, who was accused of publicly insulting the party's provincial chairperson and premier Cassel Mathale, has apologised.

He has also apologised to ANC Youth League provincial chairperson Frans Moswane, whom he had allegedly called names.

Mushwana is chairperson of the Wilson Tibane branch at NkowaNkowa, Tzaneen.

He was accused of having insulted Mathale and Moswane during a protest outside the Phalaborwa magistrate's court in June.

This happened during the court appearance of five men accused of destroying the tombstone of former SA ambassador to Indonesia Norman Mashabane.

Mushwana allegedly went to court with Tshepo Digomo and disrupted a gathering which Mathale and Moswane were addressing.

Digomo is an ANC leader of the Brown Matlala branch at Marble Hall in the Sekhukhune region.

The two were suspended and prohibited from taking part in any activities of the ANC. They were both charged with bringing the organisation into disrepute.

During his disciplinary hearing yesterday, Mushwana allegedly apologised to the two leaders and pleaded for a lesser sentence.

Digomo could not attend the hearing due to alleged "unforeseen" commitments.

ANCYL spokesperson David Tselane confirmed that Mushwana had pleaded guilty but refused to proceed with the interview, saying the matter was still sub judice.

Meanwhile, the PEC of the ANCYL has endorsed the expulsion of three of its members in the Mopani region this week.

The three dismissed members are Thomas Makondo, who served as the regional chairperson, his deputy Sello Mononela and regional executive member Ivy N'wandzule.

The three were suspended in May and found guilty on June 15 for misconduct and bringing the party into disrepute.

They have allegedly defied the instructions of the PEC by organising a sub-regional conference of the league in Giyani.
