AFTER a three-week long tour across the country to mobilise support for Bafana Bafana, the Superfans will arrive in Gauteng today to intensify the campaign.
The Superfans comprise 16 passionate supporters of the 16 Absa Premiership clubs, who have been brought together by Bafana Bafana co-sponsors Castle Lager.
The company's Errol Madlala says the role of the Superfans is to engage South Africans and promote national pride in Bafana Bafana.
The Superfans will also be seen in public places, including the Liberty Centre in Ameshoff Street, Braamfontein, between noon and 2pm.
"The Superfans have been travelling across the country to mobilise support for Bafana Bafana for the 2010 Fifa World Cup and beyond."
The Superfans include Johannes "Mzion" Mofokeng (Orlando Pirates), Thomas "Rasta" Mokhari (Moroka Swallows), Robert "Mzekezeke" Nkosi (Mamelodi Sundowns) and Botha "White Shower Cap" Mosia (Bloemfontein Celtic).
They have visited Cape Town, East London, Durban, Nelspruit, Tshwane, Mafikeng, Rustenburg, Bloemfontein, Vereeniging, Polokwane and Johannesburg.
Mosia said: "The support we got from the majority of South Africa was incredible, it is also good that all the matches that Bafana Bafana are playing are sold out."
Absa, another sponsor of Bafana, is also mobilising support for Aaron Mokoena and companies using projects linked to their various products. The bank's sponsorship manager, Stewart Masela, said their fabric wall, where people write messages of support for Bafana Bafana, has been a major success.
"The fabric wall is now at the Bafana Bafana hotel in Sandton so that the players can see that the entire country is really behind them."
Bafana's technical sponsor, adidas, have the giant replica jersey of the team on which South Africans are writing messages of support.
