JI-HOON "Volcano" Kim could be back at Emperors Palace before the end of the year. Golden Gloves Promotions boss Rodney Berman, who co-promotes the South Korean with Art Pellulo of Banner Promotions, said Kim could make an appearance at the Palace of Dreams in September.
"Kim could fight for the vacant IBF world championship and I am reasonably confident of bringing the bout here," said Berman, who was at ringside at the weekend when the "Volcano" took out Ameth Diaz in the first round.
Their fight was billed as an IBF lightweight title eliminator. Diaz was rated sixth, while Kim was two notches below the ranking.
The No 1 and 2 spots are vacant. The No 3 and 4 contenders, Ali "Rush Hour" Funeka and Joan Guzman, have fought twice for it without success.
Kim trounced Panama's Diaz at the Laredo Energy Arena in Texas last month.
Berman said after fairly even early exchanges, Kim landed a splintering right that put Diaz on the canvas.
"The fight was duly stopped. Kim was devastating," Berman said.
