Let cap fit all

MAYBE NPA head Menzi Simelane is right; he is not petty.

MAYBE NPA head Menzi Simelane is right; he is not petty.

He took away the four Jeep Cherokee SRT8s from senior prosecutor Gerrie Nel and his team, virtually leaving them to their own devices insofar as commuting to court is concerned.

Nel, like André Lambrecht who was relieved of his managerial duties apparently because he refused to follow orders that the state should not oppose bail for hip-hop artist Molemo Jub Jub Maarohanye, is no ordinary prosecutor.

Nel is the man who commutes to court in Johannesburg daily to try former police chief Jackie Selebi in his corruption trial. Maybe Simelane, as in the Lambrecht case, has good intentions.

It is just that we can't shrug off the feeling that there's something fishy to these decisions.

If those like Communications Minister Siphiwe Nyanda look at their bling cars as mere tools of the trade, what stops Nel from advancing the same argument?
