Sowetan asked to explain

THE Government Communication and Information System has taken issue with the Sowetan for not carrying its response in an article about Safa last Friday.

THE Government Communication and Information System has taken issue with the Sowetan for not carrying its response in an article about Safa last Friday.

It was reported in the article that Cosatu general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi and International Relations and Cooperation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane had said theywould not accept bonuses for being members of the LOC board.

GCIS' comment was that government ministers had nothing to do with decisions of Safa and could not have been party to a decision giving board members 10percent of R1billion the football body stood to gain from the Fifa Soccer World Cup.
