ESKOM has been condemned by the National Union of Mineworkers for "seeking to retrench workers through the back door".
In a statement yesterday, NUM said workers at Eskom's protection services in Johannesburg were being replaced by private security personnel without proper consultation processes.
"The workers who have been working permanently for Eskom protection services for many years are being given forms to fill in that will see them end up working in areas as far away as Mafikeng," NUM alleged.
