Mpumalanga police have found six trucks "dumped" in the bush in the Nkomazi region near Mozambique.
They are now appealing to people whose trucks have been stolen to contact them .
Tonga police spokesperson Constable Mzwandile Nyambi said five trucks were recovered at the weekend in Tonga near Malelane while one was found yesterdayin Mbuzini near Komatipoort.
Nyambi said five of the trucks had been reported stolen at different police stations throughout the country.
"We have since discovered that two of them were reported stolen in Free State while the other two were reported stolen in Vaal Triangle in Gauteng. Another one was stolen in Steenbok, Tonga," Nyambi said.
He said police were patrolling the area when they saw the trucks driving on the dusty road towards the border fence that divides SA and Mozambique.
"When the drivers noticed that the police were following them, they decided to stop and ran into the bush.
"Five of the trucks have been kept in Tonga police station since Saturday while the one found yesterday morning is being kept in Mbuzini police station," Nyambi said.
"We are currently getting details about the truck that was found yesterday."
He urged residents to report any suspicious vehicle seen heading towards the border fence.
