PARIS - African footballers who made the headlines in European leagues this weekend:
Pedro Kamata (Bari): The Angolan winger enjoyed very little success in the 1-0 home defeat against AS Roma.
Abdelkader Ghezzal (Siena): After missing a host of chances the previous week, the Algeria forward was quiet in Siena's crucial 2-0 defeat at Atalanta.
Sulley Muntari (Inter Milan): Ghana midfielder Muntari was largely a spectator during Inter's 3-0 cruise at home to Bologna.
Frederick Kanoute (Sevilla): Mali international forward Kanoute scored the opening goal as Sevilla defeated Tenerife 3-0 at home on Saturday to end a sequence of six league games without a win.
Kalu Uche (Almeria): The Nigerian international striker made it five goals in his last seven league starts as Almeria drew 1-1 with Real Mallorca.
Mahamadou Diarra (Real Madrid): Mali midfielder Diarra made his first league start for Real Madrid since December, helping his side go back to the top of the table with a 2-0 win at Racing Santander on Sunday.
Pierre Webo (Real Mallorca): Cameroon forward Webo came on as a second-half substitute and scored a late equaliser as Real Mallorca drew 1-1 at Almeria.
Papiss Cisse (Freiburg): The Senegal international striker scored his fourth goal since his January move from Metz in France, but Freiburg were still held 1-1 by Bochum.
Anthar Yahla (Bochum): The Algeria defender started for only the second time since November and scored the equaliser against Freiburg.
Mohammed Zidan (Dortmund): Egypt international Zidan didn't get on the scoresheet but he supplied the crucial pass for his team's second goal in the 2-1 win over Werder Bremen that kept Dortmund on course for a Champions League place.
Asamoah Gyan (Rennes): The Ghanaian international striker scored his 13th league goal of the season on Saturday when he put Rennes 1-0 ahead against Lyon after just 14 minutes. Lyon hit back to win 2-1.
Youssouf Hadji (Nancy): The veteran Moroccan midfielder opened the scoring in his side's shock 2-1 win over champions Bordeaux. - Sapa-AFP
