NEVER mind what any gullible wordsmith waxing poetical wants you to believe, here is the truth - money is everything.

Money transcends what is right or what is wrong.

Ask Daniel "Billy The Kid" Bruwer. This former SA light heavyweight champion has rejoined long time trainer Nick Durandt not only to pursue his stagnant boxing career, but importantly to make money.

Bruwer left Durandt and promoter Branco Milenkovic in September 2008 because he believed something was wrong. He joined trainer Harold Volbrecht who works with Golden Gloves and African Ring Promotions.

But Bruwer's contracts with Durandt and Milenkovic prevented him from fighting under new management and his inactivity forced Boxing SA to strip him of the title.

To make matters worse, the South Gauteng High Court has hit him where it hurt most - his pocket. Bruwer was ordered to pay all the legal costs, around R80000.

Bruwer and Milenkovic were ordered to honour their contractual obligations. All that happened when Bruwer and his advisers were unsuccessful in their bid to free Bruwer from Milenkovic's contract, which is recognised by Boxing SA.

Bruwer's contract with Milenkovic expires on July 11 2011. Bruwer was still to face Durandt in court, but he reneged, instead went back to Durandt cap-in-hand.

"I went back to Nick because I want to fight," said Bruwer who last fought on August 16 2008 when he flattened Ronnie Lategan in six rounds to register the second defence of his national belt.

"Nobody got hurt throughout this whole thing, but me. I was the one who did not fight and earn money," protested the 23-year-old fearless fighter from Meyerton.

Bruwer and Durandt's association started on September 2 2003 when the former made his professional debut and together have chalked up 17 stoppages from 20 wins against a defeat.

"He has already sparred with Michael Schultz," said Durandt who sounded jolly when talking about Bruwer who made his first big impression at Emperors Palace where he made his first defence in May 2008.
