"It is alleged that the victim's mother was told by one of her neighbours that she must check her daughter as she was suspected to be pregnant," Captain Thulani Zwane said yesterday.
"When questioned, the girl told her parents that she was allegedly impregnated by a 65-year-old neighbour."
She said the neighbour told her not to tell anyone about the rape.
The matter was reported to the police and the suspect was then arrested. - Sapa
