THREE police administration clerks have been arrested in connection with a fake matric certificate scam in Mpumalanga, police said.
Captain Leonard Hlathi said yesterday Maurine Sibulelani and Phetheni Annah Ngwenya, who work at the provincial police offices, and Nelly Zulu, who is attached to the Nelspruit police station, were arrested on Friday.
Zulu allegedly organised fake matric certificates for Sibulelani and Ngwenya so they could apply for jobs at the provincial office.
The three appeared in the Nelspruit magistrate's court for fraud and were granted R1000 bail each. They are expected to appear in court on February 3.
This brings to eight the number of arrests related to fake matric certificates this month. Five men from Nelspruit and Barberton were arrested on similar charges on January 7. -Sapa
