A massive nation-building partnership continues to discover, nurture and make them prosper through the yearly Absa and Sowetan ECD Awards.
It comprises SABC Education, education and social development departments, South African Congress for Early Childhood Development, UN International Children's Emergency Fund, Sowetan, Aggrey Klaaste Nation Building Foundation and Absa Foundation.
More than R300000 is on offer. There is R50000, R30000 and R15000, respectively, for the first, second and third home-based and community-based early childhood development (ECD) centres and registered ECD training and development centres. There is also R30000, R20000 and R10000, to the first, second and third ECD practitioners and, then R20000 for an individual, group or organisation showing innovation in ECD that is worth emulating and R10000 to a publication that is seen to be taking ECD forward.
Provincial award ceremonies started nationwide this week. The first function took place in Mpumalanga on Wednesday. The second event takes place in Limpopo today.
Others have been lined up for North West on Monday, Free State on November 11, Northern Cape on November 16, Eastern Cape on November 18, KwaZulu-Natal on November 20 and in Gauteng on November 25.
