CALVIN Matome Kadi's adeptness in front of goal has made him a revered forward in the current PSL campaign.
The affable Bidvest Wits attacker is down to earth and has refused to be carried away by his feat.
The soft-spoken Limpopo-born striker, who recently dropped a bombshell by saying he was not ready to don the Bafana Bafana jersey, spoke to Sowetan about his life off the field.
Q: Which team did you grow up supporting?
A: Orlando Pirates.
Q: Are you disappointed that you are not playing for Pirates today?
A: Growing up supporting a particular team does not mean that you will end up playing for it. Look, now I'm a Wits player and I'm happy to be one.
Q: A player you grew up admiring?
A: Jerry Sikhosana.
Q: What car do you drive?
A: Audi TT, latest (2009) model.
Q: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
A: It would definitely be Paris. I had a wonderful time when I spent my Christmas holidays there in 2006. It was awesome.
Q: Between Tebogo Moloi and Doctor Khumalo, who would you choose for your side?
A: Doctor Khumalo.
Q: If you could invite four famous people for dinner, who would they be?
A: Jomo Sono, Nelson Mandela, Irvin Khoza and Cristiano Ronaldo. Jomo gave me my first break in the top flight and Tata Mandela is my inspiration. He fought hard for the liberation of this country.
He came out of prison after such a long time a reconciliatory man.
Dr Khoza has worked hard with his team to bring sponsors for the game. Ronaldo is a great player and I get a great deal of inspiration when I see him play.
Q: Who are your favourite musicians?
A: Big Nuz and T.I.
Q: Favorite song at the moment?
A: Nka mo Dira by Nutty Nyce.
Q: What do you do in your spare time?
A: I normally just hang out with Thando Mngomeni (his teammate).
Q: Favourite restaurant?
Q: If you could bring one famous person back from the dead, who would it be?
A: Lesley Manyathela. Not only was he a great striker but he represented Limpopo well and I've heard what a good person he was from people who knew him well.
Q. Do you smoke or drink?
A. No, as a professional player I think it's important to stay healthy.
Q. What is your earliest memory of Johannesburg?
A. I found life very fast but I tried to acclimatise as quickly as possible.
I was a bit nervous when I arrived in Jozi because of bad stories I heard about this city when I grew up.
I was born in Botlokwa (Limpopo) but raised in Witbank (Mpumalanga) and I didn't think that one day I would live in Jozi. But I really enjoy living here.
Q. What was your first car?
A. A VW Golf 4 that I bought in 2006.
Q: When did you get your licence?
A: In 2007, after I had bought my first car.
Q. Do you remember when you had your first kiss?
A: It was back in 1998 with a girl called Pretty, who was one of the hottest girls in our class. My current girlfriend is Gugu.
