Taxi bodies are scared of BRT

HERE we go again. Taxi associations are crying foul because they are scared of losing business to the advanced BRT system.

HERE we go again. Taxi associations are crying foul because they are scared of losing business to the advanced BRT system.

But business is all about competition and the best service.

Taxi authorities claim that they will not benefit from the BRT but that is simply because of their gormless behaviour.

Even if they are trained they will not change.

More unmarked traffic vehicles in the afternoons, on Gauteng' s M1 north from the on-ramp at the Killarney Mall to Marlboro, will assist greatly. This is the route where one sees the " skills" of taxi drivers .

I also fail to understand the commuters who allow themselves to be bullied by one driver when there is a bus full of them. They gamble with their lives, driven by lunatics in mobile coffins.

They later speak from their hospital beds after a collision. I won't call it an accident because an accident is unintended.

On the other hand one can predict a serious collision that could result in the loss of innocent people's lives. And the irresponsible thug who caused it walks free and unharmed.

Now taxi drivers are going to embark on a strike and poor people will suffer.

Why can't taxi operators fight their own battles without involving innocent people?
