A Joburg man gave me a great idea the other day when we were talking about the BRT. Instead of looking at it as a replacement for taxis, think of it as a top-up service. You know, like cellphones when you run out of air time and top up with what you can afford. In these tough economic times, why can't commuters have a cheap alternative when the money runs out?
Local government in particular should stand firm in the face of taxi thuggery. People need an alternative and Joburg ratepayers have already paid for the BRT. We should be able to use it.
