THE South African Under-20 team will come up against a tough England side in the semifinals of the IRB Junior World Championship in Osaka, Japan, on Wednesday.

In the second semifinals encounter billed for the same day, Australia will battle it out with New Zealand for a place in the final.

The South African boys booked a berth in the semifinals on Saturday by thrashing France 43-27 to lead the Pool C with 15 points from three games.

Down 0-20 in the first half, SA staged a remarkable second-half showing, much to the excitement of coach Eric Sauls.

It was their three wins on the trot after beating Fiji 36-10 in the first assignment and going on to humiliate Italy 65-3 in a lopsided game.

Sauls' team have been showing great commitment and team spirit throughout and need to stick to basics if they hope to upset England.

The latter also ended the group stages as pool winners with 15 points from three games.

nMeanwhile, 12 players who will represent the South African Sevens Emerging squad at the Tusker Sevens Safari in Nairobi, Kenya, from June 18 to 22 have been named.
