It's all systems go for preparations to bury Limpopo's oldest person, Koko Moloko Temo. The old lady died last week.

The who's who of the province are expected to descend on the tiny village of Mohodi GaManthata, west of Polokwane, to give a great send-off to Temo.

The celebrated citizen would have turned 135 years old next month. She died at home in what the family believed was a result of shock following the death of her daughter a week before.

The family said yesterday that after consultations with relevant people, it was decided that Temo be buried on Sunday. The burial will take place at the local cemetery and the service starts at 7am.

According to chairperson of the Older Person's Forum, Tom Boya, senior politicians in the province approached the family to request that the funeral be conducted on Sunday so that they could attend.

He said among the dignitaries would be Limpopo's first lady, Mokgadi Mathale, who is expected to render a tribute for Temo.

"The good thing is that the First Lady's Trust Fund has contributed funds to assist with the burial costs.

"We really want to make the funeral a memorable one, considering Temo was one of the few people who could live up to that age," he said.

Limpopo's oldest person was born on July 4, 1874.

She leaves behind a daughter, Evelyn, who is 89 years old.
