Diva label offers divalicious styles

What is the most interesting aspect of your job?

What is the most interesting aspect of your job?

The fact that I wake up every morning and thrive on the fast-paced retail buzz that the retail environment demands of me.

Have you always been involved in fashion? How did you get into the field?

After working many years in the financial industry, I find myself operating in an industry I'm passionate about. I visited relatives in Australia and saw the Diva brand. I realised that the concept was more than just a fashion jewellery retailer, it's a brand that takes the leading edge in fashion, quality and innovation. I became excited in sharing this vibrant brand with the South African consumer.

Is Sass Diva a local label. If not where is it from?

Sass Diva is the South African trading name of the international Diva brand originating from DCK International - one of the largest jewellery retailers in the world. Sass Diva exploded onto the South African scene in August 2007 offering customers up-to- the-minute jewellery at affordable prices, without compromising on quality and style.

Why did you feel the Sass Diva label should be brought to South Africa?

I saw the amazing success of Sass Diva in Australia where within two years it became the fastest growing retailer in the country and I believed that we would enjoy the same success in South Africa.

What type of style does the label have?

We endeavour to be on trend and fashion forward. Does your taste come into play or do you follow international trends?

One can't afford for personal taste to influence buying as it would be far too narrow. Our ranges consist of hundreds of styles and colours which are dictated by international trends.

Do you have to travel for your job. If so where have you travelled to?

While our buyers and designers travel extensively to follow fashion styles and trends, I'm not required to travel abroad that often. My "travel focus" stays local while growing the brand and opening stores across the country.

What has been your best experience while travelling for work?

What has been interesting for me is visiting stores in Australia and Singapore and seeing that our South Africa retail operation compares favourably with international standards which is very gratifying.

What has been your worst experience while travelling abroad?

Having an emergency appendectomy in Germany!
