Suspended national police commissioner Jackie Selebi reacted with anger on hearing that the National Prosecuting Authority will ask for his case to be postponed again.
Selebi is facing charges of corruption and defeating the ends of justice. The case was put down for trial at the Johannesburg high court on April 14.
"I am extremely disappointed that the trial may not continue.
The Directorate of Special Operations has investigated this case against me for more than three and a half years. Now they want another postponement," Selebi said yesterday
He learnt from his legal team that the NPA had informed Deputy Judge President Phineas Mojapelo at a pre-trial conference that they were not ready to proceed with the case on April 14.
"The DSO has caused immense harm to the country and the image of the SA Police Service by their conduct.
"The prosecution and DSO indicated that their investigation was complete and that they were ready to proceed with the trial."
But NPA spokesperson Tlali Tlali put the blame on Selebi's "endless" applications to the court.
