Soft justice

The Free State farmer who forced a couple to exhume the remains of their month-old baby from his farm to be buried in Pretoria is a callous person who deserved an appropriate jail sentence.

Fanie Hyman was obviously driven by hate for his actions which could also have bordered on racism.

Maria Mnisi and husband Phineas Johnson were still mourning the death of their baby when Hyman instructed them to dig up the remains.

The couple has now been further humiliated by the lenient two-year jail sentence handed down to the culprit. The jail term is not in line with Hyman's cruel deed.
