The keys of a hijacked Mercedes Benz car and two firearms were found in the possession of two of the men accused of murdering Lucky Dube, the Johannesburg high court heard yesterday.
Constable Vusi Dlamini told the court he and his team went to Vosloorus to investigate Dube's murder.
"When we got there, I knocked on accused number two's door, and a woman opened. I saw a man sleeping on a mattress. I went in, woke him up and introduced myself. I found a Mercedes Benz key and his green identity book," said Dlamini.
He said when he asked accused number two, Julius Gxowa, who the keys belonged to, he said they belonged to his friend.
This is the same black Mercedes Benz C Class that was hijacked from Siphiwe Mlaba, allegedly by the three accused.
Gxowa, Sfiso Mhlanga and Mbuti Mabe are accused of killing Dube in 2007.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was indeed stolen. Finding the vehicle was a coincidence. We were there for the Lucky Dube murder investigation," Dlamini said.
He said they also recovered two firearms in the house.
