Lesego Peega believes that evening wear is the ultimate expression of femininity.
So it is not surprising that the designer will present sumptuous looks for evening wear at the coming Audi Fashion Week in the Sandton Convention Centre from January 21 to 24.
"Evening wear gives one the opportunity to catch a woman at her most feminine and most glamorous," Peega says.
"It's the moment she feels like a star."
Peega's talent lies in her meticulous attention to detail and her strength lies in her discerning eye for fabric.
Her style is definitely one of classical and understated chic.
The designer's clothes are structured and tailored yet sexy and provocative, making her collection young and stylish.
"My collection is very feminine, yet meant for a self-assured, self-confident woman," she explains.
"I design for women who are aware of their beauty and femininity but unafraid to exert their personalities."
Peega was educated at Johannesburg's Lisof Fashion School. During her apprentice years she sat in on fittings at fashion houses in Jozi.
She knew she wanted to make her mark in the world of design.
Followers of fashion will recognise her as one of the young designers who was showcased as part of the Young Designers project at Capello's last year.
Not one for resting on her laurels, Peega has continued to garner recognition for her work.
She went on to become one of the head designers at NN Vintage and then for Mzansi designers.
Then she started her own label.
Peega was born with needle and thread in her hands, an artistic mind and a flair for creativity.
She decided against a conventional career and chose to follow her passion.
"My love for fashion was inspired by my mother who was a dressmaker while I was growing up."
"She is the one who injected the passion that later became my livelihood."
