The touring England Under-19 cricket team meet the national Under-19 Invitation X1 in warm-up games at Belville today and on Sunday.

This will be good preparation for the English team's crucial five one-day international matches against the South African Under-19 side in Cape Town from January 13 to 19.

Joshua Richards, who captained the Colts team at the Khaya Majola Week last month in Port Elizabeth, will lead the invitation side against the visitors.

The team was chosen from a pool of players that took part in the inaugural CSA Franchise Cubs Competition Week that was held in Boland.

The franchise week is a new programme by Cricket South Africa and provides them with the opportunity to identify talent ahead of next year's ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

Max Jordaan, Cricket South Africa's spokesman, said: "This competition will aid us in the process of grooming and refining our SA Under-19 squad for the World Cup.

"We have 24 months to monitor the players from under-17 through to under-19."
