Moroka Swallows management is concerned about the side's recent performances and have cast their sights beyond the South African borders for lethal strikers.

The Birds have slid to 11th spot after their 1-0 defeat to Bidvest Wits in Germiston on December 21.

Swallows boss Leon Prins yesterday said they were talking to a striker from Ghana and hope to sign him up in the new year.

He said their strikers were doing a good, but they were looking at someone who is more aggressive .

"For us to end the league on a high, we need to beef up our strike force.

"We want an additional striker and we believe that competition which will help to bring results," he said.

Prins said every team in the Premiership will be reinforcing its squad when the window period opens in January.

"Our aim is to end up in third place this season, but it is not going to be easy."

Prins declined to name the player they have ear-marked, but said they were almost certain of signing him next year.

Swallows PRO Siya Sangweni confirmed that they were talking to two strikers who were based in Ghana, but hastened to say they were shopping around for quality players.

"We had a meeting with the technical staff recently, and they admitted that the side's performance was gradually going down and that was worrying the management no end.

"We started well but our performance lately leaves much to be desired. We have to fulfill our promise of ending the league programme in third spot this season," he said.

Sangweni added that there were players that will be off-loaded but declined to say who they were and the number.

"It will depend on the coach," he concluded.
