The two Limpopo mayors who were fired by the ANC last month were all smiles yesterday after getting top jobs in government again.
Former Greater Makhado municipality mayor Gloria Mashaba was offered a job as director of corporate services in the Greater Letaba local municipality in Modjadjiskloof.
Mashaba will fill a position left vacant by Kenneth Shimange whose contract was not renewed when it expired in August this year.
Mashaba joins the impoverished municipality armed with a BA in Social Sciences and a Diploma in Human Resource Management, among other qualifications.
She worked as manager in the Department of Education for seven years and then as a social worker for three years before assuming the position of mayor.
Former greater Giyani municipality mayor Angie Ramaepadi was offered a job as executive assistant to the MEC Maite Nkoana-Mashabane in the department of local government and housing.
Sowetan was told that the department was finishing paper work for her appointment to be made effective.
"Ramaepadi will be appointed on a contract basis for a few months until such time the new MEC for the department takes his place," said a staff member who did not want to be named.
But Clayson Monyela, spokesman for the department of local government and housing, said processes were still in place to appoint a suitable candidate to the vacant position of executive assistant to the MEC.
Ramaepadi will fill the shoes of Cyril Monyela, who is now acting as housing sector performance and municipal support manager.
Ramaepadi worked as a teacher for 22 years, then lectured at the then University of the North's Giyani campus for three years.
She then took up the position of provincial Unisa ABET coordinator for eight years, was ANC chief whip in the Giyani municipality for five years and then served as mayor for two years.
She is completing a Master's in Development.
